INSTRUCTION FOR CANDIDATES
Educational Qualification :
(A) Matriculation / SSLC plus ITI from recognized institutions of NCVT / SCVT in the trades of Fitter, Electrician, Instrument Mechanic, Millwright / Maintenance Mechanic, Mechanic (Radio & TV), Electronics mechanic, Mechanic (Motor Vehicle), Wireman, Tractor Mechanic, Armature & Coil Winder, Mechanic (Diesel), Heat Engine, Turner, Machinist, Refrigeration & Air-Conditioning mechanic.
OR
Matriculation / SSLC plus Course Completed Act Apprenticeship in the trades mentioned above
(B) matriculation / SSLC plus three years Diploma in Mechanical / Electrical / Electronics / Atuomobile
Engineering
OR
Eombination of various streams of these Engineering disciplines from a recognised Institution in lieu of ITI.

- Minimum : 18 Years
- Maximum : 30 Years
Stages of exam :
- Shortlisting of candidates for the Second Stage CBT shall be done RRB-wise at the rate of 15(fifteen) times the vacancies for that RRB. It will be based on their merit in CBT-I. Marks will be normalized in all the stages of exam that involve multiple shifts.
Negative Marking : There will be negative marking 1/3rd mark for every wrong answer) in both CBT-1 and CBT-2. There shall be no negative marking in the Computer Based Aptitude Test (CBAT).
STANDARDS OF MEDICAL FITNESS : Candidatescalled for DV will have to pass requisite medical fitness test(s) conducted by the railway administration to ensure that theyare physically fit to carry out the duties connected with the post. Visual acuity Standard is an important medical fitness for railway service. The medical requiredments for the post of Assistant Loco Pilot of this CEN are outlined below.

PATTERN FOR EXAM
The recruitment process shall comprise of the following stages :
- (i) First Stage CBT (CBT - 1)
- (ii) Second Stage CBT (CBT - 2)
- (iii) Computer Based Aptitude Test (CBAT)
- (iv) Document Verification (DV)
- (v) Medical Examination (ME)
FIRST STAGE CBT (CBT - 1) :
CBT-1 will only be a screening exam for shortlisting eligible candidates for CBT тАУ 2 based on their normalizaed marks and merit.
The marks of CBT-Il shall not be counted while preparing the final panel.
Pattern of CBT - 1 :
- (i) Duration : 60 minutes
- (ii) Number of questions : 75, Maximum marks : 75 (I mark per question)
- (iii) There shall be negative marking 1/3rd marks for each wrong answer.
- (iv) Normalization of marks will be done for CBTs held in multiple shifts.
- (v) Minimum pass percentage for eligiblility : UR & EWS тАУ 40%, OBC (NCL) тАУ 30%, SC тАУ 30%, ST тАУ 25%.
- (vi) Questions will be of objective type with multiple choice answers.
- (vii) Medium of Examination: Questions for CBT will be available in English, Hindi and 13 regional Indian languages (viz., Assamese, Bengali, Gujarati, Kannada, Konkani, Malayalam, Manipuri, Marathi, Odia, Punjabi, Tamil, Telugu and Urdu). Accordingly, candidates must choose their medium of examination from any one amongst those listed in the ONLINE application form. CBT questions will be displayed in the language opted and in English.
SECOND STAGE O CBT (CBT - 2) :
Shortlisting of candidates for CBT-2 shall be done RRB-wise and community-wise as per their normalized marks and merit in CBT-1.
Total number of candidates to be shortlisted for CBT-2 shall be limited to 15 (fifteen) times the number of vacancies notified against each RRB.
The final panels for ALP will be prepared only on the basis of marks and merit of candidates in CBT тАУ 2 & CBAT.
Pattern of CBT тАУ 2 :
- (i) CBT-2 shall comprise of two parts viz., Part-A and Part-B as detailed below.
- (ii) Total Duration : 2 hours and 30 minutes & Total Questions : 175
- Part тАУ A : 90 minutes & 100 questions
- Part тАУ B : 60 minutes & 75 questions
- (iii) There shall be negaytive marking 1/3rd marks for each wrong answer.
- (iv) Normalization of marks will be done for CBTs held in multiple shifts.
- (v) In Part - A, Minimum pass percentage for eligibility : RU & EWS - 40%, OBC (NCL) - 30%, SC - 30%, ST - 25%
- (vi) Only the marks scored in Part-A shall be counted for shortlisting of candidates for further stages of recruitment process provided the candidate irrespective of community is able to secure qualifying marks (35%) in Part - B.
Computer Based Aptitude Test (CBAT) :
- (i) Candidates equal to 8 (eight) times the number of ALP vacancies for each notified community / category viz., UR, OBC (NCL), SC, ST and EWS (including ExSM), shall shortlisted for CBAT on the basis of their marks in Part тАУ A of CBT тАУ 2 and application of reservation rules, provided they qualify in Part -┬а B of CBT тАУ 2.
- (ii) Such shortlisted candidates should produce their Vision Certificate in the prescribed format in original, during the CBAT, failing which they will not be permitted to appear.
- (iii) It is mandatory to clear each test battery / section of CBAT separately, to qualify.
- (iv) The CBAT shall be only in English and Hindi and there shall be no negative marking.
- (v) Qualifying Mark : All candidates (irrespective of community) must secure a minimum T-score of 42 marks in each test battey separately of qualify in the CBAT.
- (vi) The merit list will be prepared only from amongst candidates qualifying in the CBAT. 70% weightage will be given for marks obtained in Part тАУ A of CBT тАУ 2 and 30% weightage for score obtained in the CBAT.
Document Verification (DV) :
- (i) Based on the marks and merit of candidates in Part тАУ A of CBT тАУ 2, qualifying in Part тАУ B of CBT тАУ 2 and scores in CBAT, candidates equal to the number of vacancies, will be shortlisted for Document Verification.
- (ii) Appointment of selected candidates is subject to their passing the requisite Medical Fitness Test to be conducted by the Railway Administration and final verification of all essential documents and verification of antecedents / character of the candidates.
- (iii) Candidates shortlisted for DV will have to submit all their original documents along with two sets of self-attested photocopies at the time of DV.
- (iv) Further, these candidates should upload the scanned copies (in true colour) of Photo & Signature before their DV date through the portal.

prescribed by Directorate General of Training (DGT).
(ii) Qualifying Percentage тАУ 35% for all candidates irrespective of category/community.
(iii) Candidates with ITI/Trade Apprenticeship qualification will be required to appear in the section having
question from their trade.
(iv) Degree, Diploma candidates have to select one trade from the list of trades listed below against their
engineering discipline.
